About this guide

Snæfellsnes Guide is an independent guide to one peninsula in west Iceland, from Arnarstapi under the glacier to Kirkjufell and Stykkishólmur. We cover one place so we can cover it properly.

What we do

We explain the decisions that actually shape a day out here: whether to drive yourself or join a tour, how long the loop really takes, which stops are worth the time in winter light, what the road and the wind will do, and what things cost. Where a booking helps, we point you to tours we would book ourselves.

How we keep it accurate

Facts come from primary sources wherever we can find them: the Icelandic Met Office for climate records, the Road and Coastal Administration for roads and distances, Strætó for buses, the national park and the municipalities for rules and fees, and the operators’ own sites for opening times and prices. Sunrise and sunset times are calculated for Arnarstapi itself. Tour prices come from the live listings on GetYourGuide. Each page shows the date it was last checked, and where a figure comes from a report rather than an official source, we say so.
